Restore testing matters as much as backup
Data loss can result from attacks, hardware faults, accidental deletion, failed updates or configuration errors. Where appropriate, a 3-2-1 approach plans at least three copies, on two media, with one copy off-site. Restore drills measure backup readability and target RTO/RPO values, with each result reported.
