The Custom Web Design and User Experience Engineering Project is a conversion-focused UX engineering exercise carried out with brand strategy, information architecture, prototyping and micro-interaction discipline. Template-based design does not answer the real questions of the brand's audience or follow their decision journey, so any serious digital presence requires actual UX engineering. Design here is not an "aesthetic choice" — it is a measurable engineering discipline.
The real cost of template-based design
Off-the-shelf templates accelerate the prototype stage but expose three structural problems against a real audience: information architecture fails to follow the actual questions, micro-interactions do not reflect the product's character, and the conversion flow is locked into a generic mould. The end result is a low conversion rate despite high production polish. The complexity of the brand's services and products, the order in which the customer asks questions, which content gets read on which page type — these questions cannot be answered by picking a template. They require product research and UX engineering. Without that, design looks fine but the user is left with "I don't know where to find what"; time on page falls, add-to-cart rates drop, and the brand's pace of building trust in the digital space slows down.
The AIOR UX engineering discipline
The AIOR team runs the project in three layers. Layer one is information architecture and content mapping — user personas, target behaviours and critical conversion points are extracted; cross-page flow is redrawn to match the user's questions. Layer two is prototype and micro-interaction design — wireframes, interactive prototypes and micro-interactions (hover, focus, transition animations, state feedback) are designed in the brand's tone; each interaction is validated against the question "why does it exist?". Layer three is conversion-focused interface implementation — the design is translated into real code while protecting a performance budget; A/B-testable variants are defined, analytics hooks are embedded, and the team is handed a design system so the team can continue evolving the design sustainably.
Engagement and brand tone become measurable
The output is an evolvable design system with documented component, content-hierarchy and interaction rules. Reading order and primary task flows are verified through usability testing. Changes in engagement and conversion are measured against the previous version with analytics and experiment data; design alone does not guarantee either outcome.
This approach applies directly to corporate sites, B2B SaaS products, e-commerce platforms, service brands and digital products. For a UX engineering project from scratch or a conversion-focused redesign of your existing site, you can reach out to the AIOR team.
